Ben Ainslie, and an America’s Cup Dream

At last, Ben Ainslie aims to bring the 35th America’s Cup back to Great Britain. In 1851, The Royal Yacht Squadron‘s Annual Regatta around the Isle of Wight, was one by an American, The America’s Cup was born.

Many years later the greatest ever Olympic Sailor Ben Ainslie made a statement, winning Olympic Gold and an Americas Cup were the two of his biggest dreams. So with Gold’s amassing around his neck, part two has finally started to take shape. After crewing with OneWorld Challenge, Team New Zealand, and Team Origin in previous America’s Cups, Ben now joins up with Jimmy Spithill to polish his helmsman skills to take over the other Oracle yacht an AC72 open design 72ft wing-sail catamaran…. However, for now they will be practicing on a smaller AC45’s. These are no pussy Cats either.

The aim is to race tune his big boat skills over the next 2 years while building his Ben Ainslie Racing team (BAR). That team will be aptly named JP Morgan BAR after linking up earlier this week, to help in the financing, Oracle will master the boat build, and the politics that follow this sport are legendry. Ben and Politics, yeah right, do not make Ben angry…

GB have never won the America’s Cup and Queen Victoria, who was watching at the finish line, back in 1851, asked who was second, the famous answer was: “Ah, Your Majesty, there is no second.

Ben Ainslie a born Winner….
