“No Gold’s Australia” – Not anymore!

I wrote recently about the issues of “A No Gold’s Australia.” And it all being about timing, so stop whingeing, wining and going on about failures. Ms.Chiller’s “Call to Arms” expressing her worry about her Nation’s pending three years & fifty weeks of mockery, must have done the business.

So, on the day when those Silvers started turning Gold, with Sail, Bike & Hurdles behind today’s successes, you suddenly wonder what all fuss was about, especially when added to the team sports successes there’s more medals to come.

Remember Australia has seen a generational change since Sydney2000. These Roo’s are growing stronger, Sportstars in the making, across a group of sports that will yield world acclaim over future generations, change takes time, Sydney2000 enabled that change, quicker than you had imagined.

As an Englishman I’ve always worried about Aussie successes, especially when you spoil our party for a departing Velodrome Princess, but if your going to lose, better to your greatest rival. Anna Meares rode her bike today, better than she has for weeks, in her typical “Blood n Guts” manner. Your sailors are finally using the elements to their advantage in Weymouth. And Sally Pearson, with her love of London’s weather and Auntie’s hospitality, blew a field of world-class athletes aside, no falls to blame, just the best hurdlers in a generation, left in an Aussie Icon’s Wake…

The flame may fade in a City, Never in the heart of a Nation.

Welcome back Australia, we missed you.

Later

Rich
